To many people, the end of summer is a sad time, because the warm weather goes away, making it hard to do things outside. Even when it starts to get cooler out, there are still plenty of things to do in the autumn, especially in New Jersey. These are just a few of the best activities you can take participate in during the autumn in New Jersey.
When the Summer Ends, There Is Still Plenty to Do
Annual Bordentown Cranberry Festival
In 1989, the Bordentown Cranberry Festival was started in Bordentown, New Jersey by resident Jackie Reed, and over the past 28 years it has become one of the most popular juried arts and crafts shows in the New Jersey area. During the event, over 150 crafters will appear to sell their one-of-a-kind products, including clothing, art, candles, and antiques. There will be live musical performances, and the event will also feature a beer garden.
This year, the event takes place on Oct. 7th and Oct. 8th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm each day.
Take a Hiking Trip
While many people take hiking trips during the summer, others prefer taking hiking trips during the fall, because the cooler weather makes it easier to make the trek. Popular locations for hiking in New Jersey during autumn include the Worthington State Forest in Warren County, and the Cheesequake State Park in Middlesex County, to name a couple.
Hiking out in the autumn is especially rewarding, since you can check out the local foliage as the leaves start changing color.
When autumn begins, it is only a matter of time before you start thinking about Halloween. If that’s the case, why not try some pumpkin picking? Many farms allow people to come in and pick pumpkins that can be either painted, carved, or decorated for the upcoming holiday.
Many popular locations for pumpkin picking can be found in Burlington County, New Jersey, including the Indiana Acres Tree Farm, the Taylor River Side Farm, and Russo’s Fruit and Vegetable Farm, where you can take part in another popular fall activity: apple picking.
Check Out a Corn Maze
Corn mazes are among the most popular attractions during the autumn season, especially for kids. Plenty of people like getting lost in corn mazes, and New Jersey is home to a wide selection of popular mazes. Some examples in New Jersey include the Stony Hill Corn Maze and Fun Maze Park in Chester, NJ and the Etsch Farms Corn Maze in Monroe Township, NJ.
If you are in need of something to do with the family this autumn, going through a corn maze would be a good option.
Bergen County Art in the Park Show & Concert
Are you the type who is interested in different types of art and music? Then the Art in the Park Show & Concert in Bergen County, New Jersey is an event to consider checking out. Throughout the day, over 100 visual artists will display their creations for a chance to win cash prizes.
