There are many ways to celebrate the New Year in the New York/New Jersey area. Whether you are looking for something for the whole family, or you and your significant other, there are plenty of ways to do so. Below are our top picks for New Year’s Eve events in Northern New Jersey and NYC.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve Dublin Style!

Where: The Shannon Rose Pub, Clifton
When: 4 to 7 p.m.
Cost: Free, but reservations are required.

This family-friendly event includes face painters, sweet treats, balloons, a celebratory toast, and more! The countdown to the New Year will start at 4:26 EST, so make sure to get there early. For those 21 and over, celebrations for our time zone will start at 9 p.m. and tickets start at $80 per person.

First Night Morris 2016


Where: Mayo Performing Arts Center, Downtown Morristown
When: 4:45 p.m. to midnight
Cost: $20, free for children four and under.

Find something for everyone at one of New Jersey’s biggest first night celebrations. Enjoy two fireworks displays (9:15 and midnight) along with over 80 performers, including a British Invasion tribute band performing top songs from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

New Years Eve at The Funplex


Where: The Funplex, East Hanover
When: 6:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Cost: $49 in advance, $54 at the door.


Enjoy six hours of unlimited indoor attractions, a buffet, and great music. Each Funplex guest will get $10 of arcade value per person so you can play the night away.

Time’s Up New Year’s Eve Ride

Where: NYC, Starts at the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge and ends at Belvedere Castle in Central Park.
When: 9:45 p.m. to ?
Cost: Free

New Year's Eve Ride

This event is put on by Time’s Up, a non-profit committed to education outreach and direct action to make NYC a more sustainable city.  Bring your bike and end up in Central Park just before the clock strikes midnight. Dress festive, and bring a food or beverage to share and enjoy a fireworks show.

Circle Line New Year’s Eve Cruise

When: Boards at 9:00 p.m. sharp.
Where: Pier 83, 12th Ave. (West Side Highway) and 42nd street, Manhattan
Cost: $179 per person
*This event is only open to those 18 years or older.

With this December being one of the warmest we’ve had in a while, why not take advantage of it by doing a New Year’s cruise on the Hudson River? Enjoy scenic views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Manhattan skyline. If you get chilly, head into the boat’s three story interior cabin for a full open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and a celebratory champagne toast at midnight.
